Screens for Large Bifold and Sliding Door Openings

A wide glass opening is made to be left open. In many climates that means bugs come in too. Planning a screen early keeps the indoor-outdoor feel without the pests.

Why large openings need a different screen

A standard hinged or sliding screen panel is sized for a single door. A multi-panel bifold or a wide sliding system leaves a much bigger gap. Retractable screens roll or fold away when you don't need them, so they don't block the view.

Questions to answer before you order

  • Do you want to screen the whole opening, or only a daily access door?

  • Which side will the screen sit on, and does that clash with the way the panels fold or slide?

  • Is there room in the wall or header for the screen housing?

  • Should the screen frame match your door finish?

Plan screens with the door, not after

Screens affect framing, trim and sometimes the threshold. Including them in the first quote avoids rework later. A retractable screen option is available for our bifold doors; ask us about screen options for sliding doors.
